I Can Not Find My USB Drive In Vista.

Normally when you insert a USB drive into your computer you should hear a beep/sound and your USB flash drive should automatically appear in the device list of your computer. That is what should happen but sometimes it happens that your USB drive is not showing there. The most common reason that your USB drive isn’t showing is that your system assigns a drive letter to it that already is in use.

I couldn’t find my USB Drive and this is what happened to me.

This is my device list.

The first step is to open all your devices; it can happen that all of a sudden your lost USB drive is opened.

Speed Up Vista with Windows Ready Boost

In today’s Vista Tip and Trick I want to show you a new Windows feature which is new with the coming of Vista. This speed up trick is called Windows Ready Boost and works pretty simple but before I begin the actual (few) steps, I’ll explain in short what it is.

Adding system memory (RAM) is often the best way to improve a PC’s performance. However, upgrading memory can be difficult and costly, and some systems have limited memory expansion capabilities, making it impossible to add RAM.

Windows Vista provides a new way to add memory to your system which is called Ready Boost. Now you can use a USB flash drive, to improve performance without having to add additional memory to your system.

Disable the Indexing of the Drives.

This is a follow up of the Vista Speed Up Trick that I showed you yesterday. This was the article where I showed you how to disable the Windows Search Service.

Today I want to take it a step further by disabling indexing of the drives

But I do have to warn you that you are careful with this. This can not harm or damage your system or something like this but this Vista Trick should only be used on drives which are rarely used or searched. You can simple undo this option but if you want to index an external HD with 300GB with music on it then it will take forever to apply new attributes to all files.
